Abstract

The dissertation identifies and interprets, from the analysis of content and framework and in the light of the relevant literature, aspects of public communication arising from both the public power and the groups Católicas Pelo Direito de Decidir in Brazil and Argentina. In a comparative perspective, these aspects can help to form a form of active dissemination, in which the State contributes to the formation of debate and deliberation. This research aimed to characterize the flows and counterflows of information and communication put into action by social movements and activisms in defense of sexual and reproductive rights, in search of understanding the potential contribution of public information sources and symbolic frameworks that circulate in Latin American societies, specifically Brazil and Argentina, for the affirmation of rights, in the post-pandemic context and the consequences of Covid-19 for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals of Agenda 2030, of the United Nations. We emphasize that, in Latin America, the Covid-19 pandemic exacerbates a context marked by marked socioeconomic and gender inequalities. If seen from the perspective of communication, the context can be characterized by the existence of a culture unfavorable to the affirmation of sexual and reproductive rights, in addition to, above all, difficulties in meeting the right to information about public policies, obstacles that have been faced by social activism (AU)
