Abstract

The rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis Müell. Arg.) is the crop that produces the raw material for natural rubber, a fact that makes it represent an economic and social importance inside and outside the national territory. Rubber plantations are affected by a variety of diseases and the occurrence of black crust has been raising concerns for rubber farmers. This disease is associated with the fungi Phyllachora huberi and Rosenscheldiella heveae, updated information aimed at determining which species of Phyllachora and Rosenscheldiella occur and which prevail in the main rubber tree producing regions and which characterize the pathogen populations are important for the country. Thus, this work aims to identify and characterize species of fungi associated with black scab of rubber trees in different Brazilian states. For this, phylogenetic analyzes were carried out, using partial sequences from the region of ITS-5.8S rDNA, α-elongase, actin and β-tubulin of the collected isolates, as well as the pathogenic characterization through the inoculation of the isolates obtained from seedlings. from the RRIM600 clone. Through phylogenetic analysis we observed the predominance and genetic diversity within the genus Cladosporium, none of the isolates were identified as Phyllachora huberi. In the pathogenicity tests, we observed that some of the isolates showed a rapid evolution of symptoms. This information contributes to the understanding of the epidemiology of the disease and can help in its control management in the field. (AU)
