Abstract

We propose a method of quantum states conversion between different colors of the spectrum, by using entangled beams produced through parametric down conversion in an optical parametric oscillator (OPO). The OPO is pumped by a 532 nm laser, with the generation of a intense field (mW) resonant with the D1-line of Rb atoms, in 795 nm. The idler field, produced in 1608 nm, is in the telecommunication L-band, a low loss region appropriate for long distance coupling and compatible with the technology of micro fabrication of optical devices in silicon and silicon nitrate chips. We will use the system to demonstrate the teleportation of different quantum states of light produced by interaction with rubidium atoms, with conversion of the light frequency to the L-band. To achieve this goal, it is a fundamental step to have a source of entangled beams in such wavelengths. Thus, the aim of this work was to produce them. We accomplished the generation of the pair of twin beams, despite the difficulty in locking the OPO in the suitable temperature. Besides, the entire detection system and data acquisition were built. Furhermore, we made the complete caracterization of the generated beams at a 18ºC temperature for the OPO crystal, with wavelengths different from the desired ones, due to the temperature. To verify the beams entanglement, we used the Duan criterion, in which the quadratures sum must be less than 1. The obtained result, however, was 1.04. The value is near the necessary, what indicates that, by overcoming OPO locking barrier at low temperatures entanglement must indeed be observed. (AU)
