Abstract

An Eulerian method is employed for the numerical calculation of the flow around groups of fixed cylinders. A Finite Volume Method using a non-structured 2D triangular mesh is employed for solving the Navier-Stokes equations. The Fractional Step Method is used. The convective terms are treated by a parabolic-bilinear interpolation scheme based on the QUICK scheme. The simulations aim to investigate the vortex shedding and flow interference phenomena around cylinder bundles in several configurations, for both low and high Reynolds number. Large Eddy Simulation is used for the turbulence modelling. Vorticity contours for all of the studied configurations are presented in order to give a better visualization of the flow. (AU)
