Abstract | |
This Dissertation presents a contribution to the methodology applied to mineral raw materials market studies in Brazil. The first part introduces a survey focusing both on theories on industrial markets behavior, mainly on industrial organization fields of research and selected theories from the non renewable resource economics. The results were consolidated in a chapter with a synthesis of the chosen theories and into a commented general guide to the analysis of mineral markets. The second part presents the study case of the São Paulo state crushed stone industry. It comprises the following topics: crushed stone products characterization, the productive chain configuration (suppliers and inputs, producing companies and economic groups, marketing and distribution chains, and consumer sectors), analysis of the supply constraint variables such as the mineral wealth and the extension of São Paulo state regional markets; role of mineral and environmental regulation on that industry performance; pattern of competition, price formation and the present situation of the demand and perspectives in each regional market. The conclusions bring a final assessment on the advances and limitations verified on the application of the proposed method to the focused industry. (AU) |
