Abstract

Success in execution of underground mining projects comprehend conjugation of the binominous: safety-productivity. To reach this objective is necessary the analysis of factors related to rock mass mechanical behavior and to building up of excavations stability conditions. This allow profitable conduction of mining works, keeping lives and properties. Thus, we will study some aspects of this complicated task. We will analyze modern techniques applied to rock mechanical properties determination with rigid and servo-controlled systems. Studied concepts application will be proceeded with a test campaign over Baltar Mine (Votorantim, SP) calcareous rock, and with an analysis of general mine stability conditions. Stability of individual excavations will be analyzed with a methodology developed to define the disturbed zone in galleries periphery caused by blasting action, will be recorded the particle velocity vectorial field. Mining layout study will be proceeded with a methodology developed to optimize galleries direction in fractured rock masses, concerning to blocks fall caused by excavations intersection with the rock mass discontinuities system. Mining layout study will be also proceeded with an analysis of pressure arch manifestation in underground mines, and we will develop a numerical model that allow phenomenon visualization and comparison with propositions of other researches.
