Abstract | |
This work presents the development of a technique to predict the performance of SAG mills based on the ore technological characterization. A reliable technique to predict the performance of SAG mills is the key for the operation of industrial circuits, particularly where the average throughtput is below the nominal level. The whole study was in fact motivated by the failure of consolidated techniques, Bond´s WI included, to predict the throughtput of an industrial grinding circuit. The viability of the proposed technique was tested from correlations between the \"Breakage Index\" combined with new feed size distribution and mill throughtput. Statistics analyses have proved the consistency of the proposed method. This technique has established the basis of an approach toward planning an integration of a mining enterprise as a whole, as it permits to estimate the performance of mine blocks at the SAG mill, being therefore a resource for planning the mine starting from the blasted ore performance.
