Abstract

The present thesis has as a purpose the study of the practices of bookkeeping in two "Escolas Normais" one of them in Brazil at the city of Campinas, SP, and the other in Portugal at the city of Lisbon. As you go through the process of production of the primary documental sources was considered, mainly, the constitution of the historical archives and the preservation of it. Through the bookkeeping kept in the institution were realized inventories and surveys of the documents, mapping the documentary production. The central period of the thesis is referred to the first decades of the twentieth century when the schools passed by the denomination of "Escolas Normais Primárias". The historical school archives enable and encourage questions about the school practices, finding evidences about the school routine and the political-pedagogic organization of the institution, the life of their students and the community they are inserted. The project aimed through the knowledge and the organization of the documental records of the institution to raise the approximations and distance between them and to demonstrate the typological formation of the school archives which are historical documentary patrimony, which therefore stresses the necessity of discussion and insertion of public politics towards the historical school patrimony.
