Abstract | |
The proposal of this work is to define the authority and the capability of governance of Rio de Janeiro¿s municipal chamber in the regulation of food commerce; we show the negotiation strategies and the dynamics of the conflicts among the township, the central government and the population all through the Segundo Reinado (1840-1889). With this approach we intent to discuss the Estate organization and its own dynamic strategy in the capital of the empire, as well as the struggle among multiple instances of power in the definition of social control public policies, such as the relations of domination e resistance between the rulers and the population, especially concerning to the normativeness of the daily practices of workers and small traders (AU) |
