Abstract

The research aimed to investigate and analyze the ways the São Paulo historical rural properties worries in provide activities for the leisure of elderly, working the cultural tourism with a concern of non-formal patrimonial education and under a qualitative focus. The Oral History method was used for gathering information about the immaterial heritage and collect the demands of the elderly public. The collect of testimonials was accompanied by the execution of a field journal in association with a photographic register of the educational and tourist activities, as observed in two selected farms. Six elderly, who participated of the activities provided by the selected farms, the owner and older employees were interviewed. This research came from discussions and reflexions realized in meetings of the Associação das Fazendas Históricas Paulistas (São Paulo Historical Farms Association) involving directly the researches of the Centro de Memória da UNICAMP (UNICAMP Memory Center) and the farms owners, occasion on which they presented their needs and common expectations in towards to create a model of non-formal patrimonial education practices that can be used in the elderly population treatment. As our first finding we suggested that the owners with a bigger experience in the adaptation of the farms, principally the ones with tourist activities already implemented, share and discuss among them the strategies and tactics already developed in this process. The search of partnerships with companies, as well as government agencies can be held together under the "umbrella" of the Associação das Fazendas Históricas Paulistas (São Paulo Historical Farms Association). The national and international bibliography about gerontology directed our attention during the field research, because it states and the research shows that the social relationships influence health throughout life. We conclude that the activities of cultural tourism in rural and non-formal patrimonial education in selected Sao Paulo historical farms can be developed within a common purpose, which involves the notion of historical farm. However, in presenting their attractions, each property would do it, in its way, independently and original, based on the history of the property within the region context. It is necessary a thematic definition that would be expressed through the tours offered, able to show a sense of ensemble, but also the differential of each one them. (AU)
