Abstract

The literature has showed the eccentric contraction as the principal factor to induce degenerative changes in the ultrastructure muscle cell, because the mechanical stressor potencial is very elevated in this type of contraction. However, others experiments demonstrate the efficiency of eccentric training to provide more gains in force and hipertrophy responses in comparison with isometric and concentric training. Therefore, using bibliographycal research, the porpouse of this study is to investigate the methodologycal circunstances in terms of intensity, duration and frequency of eccentric stimulus aplicated in the skeletal muscle. We concluded that the eccentric contraction is not the only factor to induce musc1edamage. Factors as intensity, duration, ffequency, form to execute the exercise, physical condition and leveI of treinabillity interfere in the magnitude of adaptations (AU)
