Abstract

Nutritional status recovery is thought more effective when there are supplement amino acid, especially, glutamine. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of glutamine supplementation the in nitrogen urinary excretion and major level of tissue nitrogen. The rats were malnourished in 21 days and received L-glutamine during 3 days. The groups of rats were: normal rats (N), malnourished rats (DP), malnourished reefed and L-glutamine supplemented (DPCRGln), malnourished L-glutamine supplemented (DPCGln) and protein malnourished L-glutamine supplemented (DPGln). Urinary and tecidual nitrogen were determined by Micro-Kjedahl and chemiluminescence, respectively. Plasma amino acids were analyzed by high performance liquid cromatography. The loss of weight was significant in the groups with malnourished. In the results of the urinary nitrogen excretion the difference statistics, only occurred in the DPGln group of basal to 7º the day of experiment. The tecidual nitrogen had difference only in the groups with malnourished. The concentrations amino acid plasma had not alterations with the suplemented of glutamina. Glutamine supplementation did not show any effect on urinary or tecidual nitrogen or plasma amino acid content. (AU)
