Abstract

This work describes a biologically plausible simulation of the olfactory system of vertebrates. The constructed model was capable of reproducing satisfactorily important characterisitics observed in the vertebrate olfactory system, including the reception of different concentrations and odor types at the epithelium and the propagation of this information to the olfactory bulb. Also, it made possible the observation of the different response patterns, both in the epithelium as in the olfactory bulb, associated with different odors used in the simulations. (AU)
