Abstract

By means of the Brazilian Electric Macro System, this research analyses the link between uses of territory and corporative interests. This technical system goes through a process of privatization since the 1990 decade, accompanied by the inflection of the State functions. The territorial and sector planning are transformed, linking the territorial dynamics to the private agent\'s purposes even more. The electric power starts being valorized more as a mercantile asset than public service and national strategic matter, what brings changes to the meaning of the actions, to the objects and, as a result, to the territory itself. Such changes are made by an undeveloped country, where the basic necessities of the population are not fully guaranteed. These questions are analyzed and discussed, taking as a methodological principle the geographical space as a social instance. (AU)
