Abstract | |
The present thesis is based on letters from readers to three Brazilian authors: Monteiro Lobato (1882-1948), Pedro Bandeira (1942) and Ana Maria Machado (1941). This epistolary material is divided into three distinct collections and contemplates different periods - the 30's and 40's (Lobato's readers), the 80's and 90's (Bandeira's readers) and, finally, a shorter period from 2000 to 2005 (Machado's readers). This study intends to investigate the public historical reading practices and their interpretative mechanisms by the comparison between the three collections, considering the Literary System, in which authors, readers and works are integrated. Also, this thesis concerns the epistolography field itself, as its object of investigation is based specifically on letters from readers (AU) |
