| Abstract | |
In the Brazilian History of Literature, the 1930s are known not only as a decade of a vast number of novels published, but also as a period when the writers were concerned about politics and the aesthetic innovations of 1922's Brazilian Modernism. Via a more general study on the fictional character, element in which it is possible to realize the dilemma between representation and creation - one of the greatest issues to 30's novelists -, this master thesis aims to compare the role of the female characters in both canonical and non-canonical novels of that time. From the first group we analyzed Menino de Engenho, O Quinze; Capitães da areia and Vidas Secas, from the second Paracoera, Rua do Siriry, Três Sargentos and Badú (AU) | |
