Abstract

(EN) The present invention relates to a method for modulating gene expression in sugarcane through use of promoters isolated from genes with an expression profile induced by water deficit in leaves, stems and roots, or preferably in sugarcane roots. Furthermore, the present invention relates to the use of three nucleotide sequences which act as promoters in the regulation of genes encoding a dehydrin (ScDHN), a long non-coding transcript (ScLNC), and a tonoplast intrinsic protein 2-3 (ScTIP2-3), for activating genes of interest in transgenic plants for the purpose of increasing productivity and tolerance to abiotic stress.
