Determination and analysis of the genome of the plant pathogen Xyllela fastidiosa is disclosed. In one aspect of the invention a computer readable media has recorded thereon a nucleic acid molecule from the Xyllela fastidiosa genome. The computer readable media is then utilized in identifying whether a nucleic acid molecule of interest is from or is homologous to the Xyllela fastidiosa nucleic acid molecule. The media permits a determination as to whether a plant, plant part, or collection of plants are infested with Xyllela fastidiosa or if an organism is potentially pathogenic to plants based upon homology to Xyllela fastidiosa.
