Abstract

The present invention describes adenosine-kinase inhibitor compounds. We provide a method of protecting tissues and organs affected by ischemia, such as the heart, brain and kidneys, as well as treating cardiac insufficiency, myocardial infarction, arrhythmia, high arterial pressure, atherosclerosis, angioplasty methods for coronary artery restenosis, chronic renal insufficiency, cerebrovascular accidents, and chronic inflammatory diseases (eg, rheumatoid arthritis). We also provide adenosine-kinase inhibitory effects of compounds derived from quinazolines, which were previously recognized as reversible inhibitors of tyrosine-kinases from the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) family.
