Paulo Capel Narvai

Paulo Capel Narvai is a senior (retired) full professor of Public Health at the University of São Paulo (USP). Graduated in Dentistry from the Federal University of Paraná (1978), he is a specialist (1981), master (1993) PhD (1997) and free professor (2001) in Public Health from USP. He has published 5 books, 50 book chapters, 4 prefaces and 1 postscript and 142 scientific articles in specialized journals. He works in Public Health, Policy and Management in Health, Epidemiology and Collective Oral Health, having interacted professionally and academically with 653 authors in co-authorship of academic and technical-scientific papers. He has presented more than two hundred works in scientific and technical events, has given courses, joined the organizing committees of events and developed academic activities in Brazil and abroad, having been a Visiting Professor of several Brazilian universities, the universities of Seville (Spain), la Republica (Uruguay), Antioquia (Colombia), Cayetano Herédia (Peru), the Centro de la Província de Buenos Aires (Argentina) , National Autonomous (UNAM) of Mexico and the Escuela de Gobierno en Salud Floreal Ferrara of Ministry of Health of Republica Argentina. He has integrated more than two hundred judging stalls of academic merit (master's, doctoral, and public tenders). He has guided 23 master's dissertations and 16 doctoral theses in Public Health. He was a consultant for 15 scientific journals, State Coordinator of Oral Health of São Paulo (1983-85), responsible for the Technical Area of Sanitary Dentistry of the Health Institute of the State Department of Health of São Paulo (1985-89), member of the Municipal Health Council of São Paulo (2006-2009), and consultant to CNPq, CAPES and Fapesp (1993-2019). Coordinated the Graduate Program in Public Health of USP (2006-2010) and the Specialization Course in Public Health at FSP/USP (2012-2018). He is currently member of Advisory Committee of the General Coordination of Oral Health of the Ministry of Health and Deputy Coordinator of CECOL/USP - Collaborating Center of the Ministry of Health in Oral Health Surveillance (www.cecol.fsp.usp.br) and member of the Public Policy Committee of the Federal Council of Dentistry (CFO).
