He obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Fundamental Chemistry from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF) (1996), a Master's Degree (2000) and a Doctorate (2004) in Organic Chemistry from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP). He worked as a post-doc at the Institut de Chimie des Substances Naturelles (ICSN) (2005-2007), France, and at UFJF (2008). He held the position of Adjunct Professor II at the Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL), Campus Maceió, from 08/2008 to 07/2011. He is currently Full Professor at the Federal University of São João del-Rei (UFSJ). He is Local Coordinator at UFSJ of the Multicentric Graduate Program in Chemistry of Minas Gerais (PPGMQ - MG). He has experience in Organic Synthesis, mainly in the preparation of nitrogenous heterocycles of natural or synthetic origin with pronounced biological activity, such as isoxazoles and pyrazoles, potential antineoplastic agents; in the synthesis of promising antimalarial agents containing peroxide functions, such as tetraoxanes, dihydroperoxides and dialkylperoxides, in obtaining conjugated molecules for non-linear optical studies; development of methodologies in nucleophilic fluorination; preparation of reagents of interest to the mining industry.
