In this project we are proposing to prepare, characterized, and to study the electrochemical, photochemical and photophysical properties of binuclear Ru/Mn complexes having perylene as bridge ligand (and of the mononuclear subunits cis-[RuII(phen)2(perylene)2]2+ and fac-[Mn(perylene)2(CO)3(ImH)]+ for comparison purposes.
The purpose of this project is develop luminescent Ru-Mn binuclear compounds, stable to thermal and photochemical reactions to mimetize the chemical step of natural photosynthesis. For this we have synthesized the complex [(phen)2Ru(phen)perylene(phen)-Mn(CO)3Br] where phen = 1,10- phenanthroline.
