Birthplace: Brazil

Dr. Márcio da Silva Arantes, began his working life at a young age as a Bricklayer's apprentice, a profession that his father practiced all his life, very dreamy, Márcio thought big, but knew little about the world. He learned several lessons from his parents and from the harsh life of the time, and decided to place his expectations and hopes on a career in studies. He left work, joined all the libraries in the city and after finishing high school he spent 4 years studying, every day, to pass the entrance exam. In 2008 he began his bachelor's degree in Computer Science at the Federal University of Lavras, a course he completed in 2012. In 2014 he completed his master's degree at the Institute of Computer Science and Computational Mathematics at the University of São Paulo, the dissertation resulted in the development of a Framework for the optimization area, ProOF, a tool that was used as a basis in other master's and doctorate degrees at the Evolutionary Computing Lab. In 2017, he defended his doctorate at the same institute using mathematical programming and evolutionary computing to solve optimal mission planning for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. The work was carried out in partnership with the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a partnership that earned him a visit to MIT and allowed him to apply the proposed solutions in robotic vehicle contexts: aerial, terrestrial and underwater. In the same year he began his career as a researcher at the SENAI Institute for Innovation in Embedded Systems, where he remains, working on developing projects for the national industry mainly on the topics: Data Analysis, Big Data, Industry 4.0, Artificial Intelligence, Optimization, Maintenance Predictive and control of robots. In total, more than 13 RDI projects were completed, in which Márcio participated. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
