Bruno Garcia Silva

Graduated in Environmental Engineering from the School of Engineering of São Carlos (EESC-USP), with a Master's and Ph.D. in Hydraulic and Sanitation Engineering under the guidance of Professor Eugenio Foresti at the same institution. Throughout my academic journey, I made significant contributions to the field with various publications in international journals, addressing critical issues such as intermittent aeration in structured bed reactors and new biofilm reactor processes for efficient COD and nitrogen removal.Working as a Specialist in Effluent Processes at Iguá Saneamento since October 2020, I am responsible for overseeing and optimizing effluent treatment processes in several operations across six Brazilian states. My activities include technical analysis, implementation of innovative technologies, and development of operational documentation and training programs. I designed a comprehensive e-learning course on effluent treatment, which includes interactive content and detailed manuals for operators, supervisors, and treatment coordinators. Additionally, I collaborated with industry experts to develop a new methodology for calculating greenhouse gas emissions from effluents, which has become a reference for several sanitation companies.My dedication to the field is demonstrated by active participation in academic activities and conferences. I served as a visiting researcher at the University of Notre Dame, USA, and presented research at various international and national conferences. My work with anaerobic bioreactors and biofilm technologies has received recognition and contributed to advances in environmental biotechnology. My commitment to environmental engineering and sustainability continues to drive my contributions both in academic research and practical applications in the sanitation industry.
