Lena Friederike Schimke Marques

She holds a medical degree and a PhD in Medicine from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (2011), as well as a medical residency in Immunology and Rheumatology from the University of Lübeck and the University of Freiburg (20152019). She currently works as a general practitioner and rheumatologist in several specialized centers within the Brazilian public health system (SUS), as well as at i9med/Galileu Saúde.She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences, University of São Paulo (20112015), focusing on infectious diseases and inborn errors of immunity, followed by a senior postdoctoral fellowship at the same institution (20192024). Her research emphasizes high-throughput data analysis, bioinformatics, and systems biology.She has received research funding from various national and international research agencies, including the European Society for Immunodeficiencies (ESID), the Latin American Society for Immunodeficiencies (LASID), Dimension Sciences, the Clinical Scientist Program at the University of Lübeck, the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP), and the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq).More recently, she has been involved in projects investigating molecular mechanisms and neuroimmune networks in patients with chronic infectious and autoimmune diseases. She serves as a senior research collaborator in the Psychoneuroimmunology Laboratory led by Prof. Otavio Cabral Marques at the University of São Paulo Medical School. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
