Márcio A. F. Martins currently holds a position as an Associate Professor within Polytechnic School at Federal University of Bahia. He received the Bachelor's at Chemical Engineering (2008) and the Master's at Industrial Engineering (2010), both from the Federal University of Bahia, and PhD's at Chemical Engineering (2014) from the University of São Paulo. His major activities involve teaching (at the undergraduate and graduate levels) and supervising MSc and PhD students. He was coordinator of the Automation and Control Engineering course at the UFBA between 2016 and 2018. He also currently holds a position as full professor of the Industrial Engineering and Mechatronics Programs, acting on several research and development projects in partnership with major Brazilian research institutions (Capes, CNPq and Finep) and process industries (Petrobras and Braskem). His research interests are: (i) Process System Engineering, with applications in energy industrial sector, namely oil and gas and renewable sources; (ii) Engineering Education, focusing on conception and development of pedagogical tools and practice centralized on students.
