Graduated in Mechanical-Aeronautical Engineering from the Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (ITA), Master and Doctor in Aeronautics Engineering from the University of Tokyo, Niwa is a researcher in charge at the Industrial Fostering and Coordination Institute (IFI) since 2005, where he is devoted to the space products conformity assessment / certification, space launch operation safety and space regulation and standardization. Formerly, he was a researcher at the Institute of Aeronautics and space (IAE) for more than two decades, up to 2004, where he worked in the area of space systems ignition, combustion and propulsion, and pioneered the liquid propulsion activities in the Institute. This experience has been the basis for deploying a conformity assessment system appropriated for the current need of the Brazilian space program. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
