He is graduate in Social Sciences at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (1996), master (1999) and ph.d (2005) in Anthropology at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (National Museum). He conducts research in the areas of Anthropology and History, in the fields of South American ethnology, ethnohistory, and Latin American cultural studies, with thematic focus on: memory and history, regimes of knowledge recording and indigenous history. He have done fieldwork among indigenous peoples in Southeastern Amazonia and in Bolivian Southern Andes. After his doctorate, he has been linked to research activities at Social Anthropology Laboratory (LAS) of the Collège de France, at the Institute of Philosophy and Human Sciences (IFCH) of University of Campinas (Unicamp) and at the School of Hispanic American Studies (of Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). He is currently a professor at the Department of Anthropology at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
