Edgard Cornacchione is the current Comptroller-General of the University of São Paulo (USP). A full professor at the University of São Paulo (USP), Licensed Accountant (CRC-SP), Independent Auditor (CNAI), and Court Expert (CNPC), he holds a bachelor's degree (1990), a master's degree (1994), a doctorate (1999), and a livre-docência (2004) in Accounting from the University of São Paulo (USP). He completed his second PhD in 2008 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA) in the field of Human Resource Education (PhD), with research on the use of advanced instructional technologies. He completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA (2003) and participated in the Colloquium on Participant-Centered Learning (CPCL) program at Harvard Business School, USA (2004). He is the representative member for Brazil at IFAC (IPAE, 2024-2026) and a member of the Doctoral Consortium Committee of the American Accounting Association (2023-2026). He serves on the editorial board of the journals CAPIC Review (Chile), Accounting Education (UK), Advances in Scientific and Applied Accounting (BR), Human Resource Development International (Taylor Francis), R. Base (UNISINOS), R. Contabilidade Finanças (USP), R. de Contabilidade e Controladoria (BR), REPeC (CFC/BR), and RBC (CFC/BR). He acts as a reviewer for the following journals: R. Administração Contemporânea (RAC), R. Contabilidade e Finanças (POR), R. Brasileira de Gestão de Negócios (FECAP), R. Informação Contábil (BR), J. of Educational Computing Research (USA), R. Contabilidade e Organizações (FEARP/USP), Intl. J. of Productivity and Performance Management (UK), RAUSP (BR), Brazilian Administration Review (BAR), Organization Management Journal (USA), R. Universo Contábil, Business Ethics (UK), J. of Online Learning and Teaching (USA), and R. Informação Contábil (UFPE). He serves as a reviewer for several conferences in the USA, Europe, and Brazil. He was the President of FIPECAFI, Head of the Department of Accounting and Actuarial Science at FEA/USP, Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Controllership and Accounting at FEA/USP, and President of the Board of Trustees of FIPECAFI. With experience in Administration, with an emphasis on Accounting Sciences and Human Resource Development, he has mainly focused on the following topics: controllership, risk, management information, and business education. He is an active member of international and Brazilian professional and academic associations, such as the American Accounting Association (AAA), European Accounting Association (EAA), Academy of Human Resource Development (AHRD), International Association for Accounting Education and Research (IAAER), ANPCONT, and CFC/CRC (Brazil). He is the former Scientific Director of ANPCONT. He has authored and co-authored numerous books, book editions, and book chapters in Brazil and abroad. He is the author of several articles published in national and international academic journals, with extensive participation in international and national conferences. Prof. Cornacchione has been honored in the USA and Brazil with awards for academic and teaching excellence. He has accumulated teaching experience in Brazil at the undergraduate and graduate levels since 1992 (when he joined USP as a professor), having supervised dozens of undergraduate students, several in Scientific Initiation (PBIC/CNPq), as well as several Master's and Doctoral dissertations. He has teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the USA between 2005 and 2008 (at UIUC). He has been appointed to more than one hundred oral evaluation committees for graduate work. He currently supervises Master's and Doctoral students at USP. He is an Emeritus Accountant (SINDCONT-SP), holds the Herrman Jr. Medal (CRCSP), is a lifetime member of the Brazilian Academy of Accounting (Patron of chair 81), and a lifetime member of the São Paulo Academy of Accounting (chair 23).
