He holds a degree in Agricultural Engineering from the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (1982), a master's degree in Agricultural Economics from the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (1994) and a PhD in Applied Economics from the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (1998). He holds post-doctorate degrees from the University of Saskatchewan - Canada, the University of Missouri - USA, the University of Giessen - Germany and the University of Surrey - UK. He is currently a Retired Full Professor at the School of Economics, Administration and Accounting of Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo. He specializes in New Institutional Economics, Transaction Cost Economics, Economics of Organizations and Management Systems with applications in Agroindustrial Organizations and Cooperatives, working mainly on the following topics: Management Systems, Corporate Governance, Performance Analysis, Investments and Costs in Agroindustrial Cooperative Organizations and Rural Credit.
