He holds a degree in Biological Sciences from the State University of Campinas (1988), a master's degree in Plant Biology from the State University of Campinas (1991), and a doctorate in Molecular Biology from the University of East Anglia, UK (1995). He is currently a researcher at the National Centre for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM), working at the National Laboratory of Biorenewables (LNBR) in Campinas, SP. He has experience in the fields of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of plants and microorganisms, focusing mainly on the following topics: gene expression in plant-pathogen interactions, structure and function of bacterial proteins involved in pathogenicity and adaptation, and resistance to antimicrobials. He served as the coordinator of the CNPq Scientific Initiation Scholarship Program (PIBIC) from 2009 to 2022 and is currently a member of the internal biosafety committee (CIBio) for the Boldrini Research Centre.
