Birthplace: Brazil

J. M. Rosolen has been a Livre-Docente (Senior Lecturer) in Physical Chemistry since 2004, currently at the level of Associate Professor III at the University of São Paulo (USP), Department of Chemistry, FFCLRP, where he joined in August 1997. His specialization is in multidisciplinary research, with a focus on the physicochemistry of materials. In recent years, his work has mainly shifted towards technological areas, emphasizing the transfer of academic knowledge to industry. JMR has been involved in projects requiring the delivery of prototypes and processes with TRL above 5, as well as patent development. The technological sectors in which Rosolen has developed projects include lithium (Li) and sodium (Na) ion batteries, supercapacitors, filters, mechanical reinforcement, carbon fiber fabrics, sensors, and more recently, electrode modifications for H2, new electrode designs for Li and Na, CO2 separation membranes, and the electrochemical production of hollow spheres, carbon cages, and fullerenes in liquid media. Rosolen has previously collaborated with companies such as Nacional de Grafite, Magnesita, and Philip Morris, and currently maintains active partnerships with Bevi Plastic and Sabesp. His laboratory is affiliated with the Center for Nanotechnology Applied to Industry (CNAI-FFCLRP-USP) and Sisnano USP. It is also worth highlighting efforts conducted in the field of nanocarbons aimed at understanding their cytotoxicity, genotoxicity, and ecotoxicity in partnership with specialized groups.Internationally, he has led various consortium-based projects, with ongoing or completed partnerships in the United States, Italy, Spain, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Greece, conducting field research stays. More recently, he has also started initiatives to establish collaborations in the battery sector with France and Austria. His academic background includes degrees in Physics and Chemistry from leading research groups, as well as a PhD completed abroad. Currently, Rosolen also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Ribeirão Preto Technological Hub and as a representative of higher education institutions on the Municipal Education Council.
