I graduated in Biological Sciences from the University of Brasília with an internship in molecular biology of parasites at Northwestern University (Chicago, USA). I hold a Master's and PhD in Microbiology, Immunology, and Parasitology from the Federal University of São Paulo, with international mobility at the Cochin Hospital (Paris, France). I completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Pasteur Institute in Paris, France. I worked as UNICAMPs Advisor for Institutional and International Relations and as a coordinator of the Genetics and Molecular Biology graduate program (CAPES, top score). He was a member of the CNPq Microbiology and Parasitology Advisory Committee (CA). He founded and coordinated the international initiatives office of the UNICAMP Institute of Biology. For six years, I was coordinate of the Biomedical Sciences Committee at the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP). I am CNPq level A researcher fellow and a Full Professor of Parasitology at UNICAMP. I currently conduct research on tropical diseases, with an emphasis on understanding the immunopathological aspects of malaria, as well as on the discovery of new drugs. My studies were recently awarded the Scientific Merit Award (on two occasions) and the Academic Merit Award by the Campinas Society of Medicine and Surgery, as well as the Inventors Award (patent category) by UNICAMP's Innovation Agency. In 2024, my PhD student was awarded with the best thesis award by the Brazilian Society of Parasitology. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
