Full Professor at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), Sorocaba Campus, and advisor in the Graduate Program in Evolutionary Genetics and Molecular Biology at the same institution. Holds a degree in Biological Sciences (1997) from the University of São Paulo (USP), where he also completed his masters (2000) and doctorate (2004) in Genetics. Conducts research in the field of Evolution, with a focus on population and conservation genetics, phylogeography, phylogenetic systematics, and biogeography, investigating the processes that generate and sustain the extraordinary biodiversity of South America, particularly in open or dry vegetation environments.
