graduate at história from Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos (1998), master's at History from Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos (2001) and ph.d. at History from Universidade de São Paulo (2006). He participated in the Cebrap Training project (2006-2008) and was a visiting researcher at the International Institute of Social History (Amsterdam) (2019) and University of Seville (2022). He is a professor of Modern History at the Federal University of São Paulo, where he carried out a Young Researcher project (2009-2012). He is the author of the books Entre Impérios: Formação do Rio Grande na Crise do Sistema Colonial Português (1777-1822) and "Senhor da Morte: capitalismo, guerra e tráfico de escravos, Portugal, Angola e Brasil (1640-1770)" and several articles on the economic history of the Portuguese Empire.
