Igor holds a bachelor's degree in Social Sciences (1994), a master's degree in Social Anthropology (1997) and a doctorate in Social Sciences from the State University of Campinas (2003). He is currently a full professor at the Federal University of São Carlos and coordinator of the Migration Studies Laboratory (LEM/UFSCar). He is coordinator of the CNPq research group "Anthropology of Migration". He was director of LIDEPS/UFSCar and head of department, coordinator of postgraduate studies and director of the UFSCar publishing house. He is currently the coordinator of the ABA's Committee on Migration and Displacement and an alternate advisor to the CNIG (National Immigration Council).He has established regular exchanges with Portuguese anthropology and has published frequently in both countries.He has experience in the field of Anthropology, with an emphasis on Urban Anthropology, working mainly on the following themes: immigration in Brazil, stereotypes, identity and Brazilian emigration in Portugal.He has been a researcher with a CNPq productivity grant since 2008.
