Graduated in Biology at the University of São Paulo (USP, 2005) and holds a Master's degree (2008) and PhD (2012) in Biotechnology by USP. Completed post-doctoral studies at the Biotechnology Center of the Butantan Institute and the Division of Infection Medicine, Lund University (Sweden). Acted as FAPESP Young Researcher at Butantan Institute (2018-2019). Since 2019, is a Professor at the Deparment of Microbiology in the Institute of Biological Sciences of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (ICB-UFMG). Acts mainly in the areas of Medical Microbiology, Biochemistry, Applied Immunology, Biotechnology and Molecular Biology, with emphasis on bacterial pathogenicity, pathogen-host interaction, hemostasis, proteinases and innate immunity, with Leptospira and Leptospirosis being the object of study.
