Received his BSc in Biological Sciences from São Paulo University in 1971 and his PhD in Biochemistry from the George Washington University in 1978. Currently holds a position as Associate Professor at the Ribeirão Preto branch of the São Paulo University. His research interests include the characterization of enzymatic components of the renin-angiotensin and kallikrein-kinin systems, and the study of snake venom toxins and their mechanisms of action.
