Graduated in chemical engineering from the University of São Paulo (1976). Master's degree in chemical engineering from the University of São Paulo (1983) and a doctorate in chemical engineering from the University of São Paulo (1994). As currently is Professor MS3 of the Universidade de São Paulo. He has experience in materials and metallurgical engineering, with emphasis on ceramics and clay minerals science and technology. He actuates mainly in: a) incorporation of waste in polymeric and ceramic matrices, b) obtaining and characterization of organophilic clays, c) obtaining and characterization of polymer/clay nanocomposites, d) obtaining and characterization of silicates/carbonaceus materials nanocomposites, and d) clays, acid activated clays, and organophilic clays as sorbents for toxic substances and environmental preservation.
