Universidade Federal de São Carlos (UFSCAR). Centro de Ciências Exatas e de Tecnologia (CCET)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

Graduated in Materials Engineering from the Federal University of São Carlos, UFSCar in 1978, Master in Materials Science and Engineering from the Postgraduate Program in Materials Science and Engineering PPG-CEM at UFSCar in 1982, Ph.D. from the Institute of Polymer Technology at Loughborough University of Technology, England in 1986 and post-doc at the Dipartimento di Ingegnaria Chimica ed Alimentare at the Universitá di Salerno-Italy in 1994. From 03/1979 to 02/2025 he worked as a professor-researcher at the Department of Materials Engineering DEMa at UFSCar, retiring in 02/2025. During his 45 years at UFSCar, he was Vice-Chief of DEMa (http://www.dema.ufscar.br), Supervisor of the Polymer Laboratories, Coordinator of the Polymer Group, Member of the Departmental Council, Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Materials Science and Engineering for 2 terms (http://www.ppgcem.ufscar.br), founding member and for over 20 years Director of the Brazilian Polymer Association, ABPol (http://www.abpol.com.br), Editor-in-Chief of the scientific journal POLÍMEROS: Ciência e Tecnologia and member of the Editorial Board of the scientific journal Materials Research (http://www.materialsresearch.org.br). He participated in the Organizing Committee of several congresses in the polymer area in Brazil (XIICBECIMAT, 4CBPol, 1CBRATEC, 1SBE, 9CBPol, 11CBPol) and abroad (PPS-18, Portugal, XVI-ICR, Portugal), and is the National Representative at the Polymer Processing Society, PPS. His research area is the development of rheo-optical techniques for real-time (in-line) characterization of the polymer melt flow, particularly in the extrusion process, hardware construction (slit-type die, optical cell, in-line Turbidimeter, in-line Rheo-polarimeter, in-line Colorimeter and in-line Small Angle Laser Light Scattering LALLS) and software development (in LabView). He has 2 granted patent applications (Synthesis of superconductors from xenotime, US 5021397 dated 1991-06-04, granted 91202466.8 dated 1991-09-23 in Europe, PI 8707200 dated 1987-12-23 in Brazil, Process for manufacturing conductors based on oxide superconductors PI 8704534-6 dated 1997-02-04 and Apparatus and method for in-line analysis of turbid flows, PI 0305380-6, granted on 2017-08-15), published 1 international book (Polymer Science: A textbook for polymer engineers, Hanser Publications, hardcover ISBN: 978-1-56990-725-2, e-book ISBN: 978-1-56990-726-9, 1st ed., 369pg, 12/30/2019), 1 chapter of an international book (Properties and uses of thermoplastic rubbers" Handbook of Polymer Science and Technology, Vol 2, 3-60, 1989 - Marcel Dekker Publ., New York) and 2 national books (Polymer Science, ISBN 978-65-86443-28-8, 449 pg., 4ed., 2024, and Polymer Characterization Techniques, ISBN 85-88098-19-9, 2004, both by Artliber, the first having become a reference book in the polymer area used with bibliography in most Undergraduate and Postgraduate Polymer Courses in Brazil). He has published more than 66 articles. He has published 15 original papers in international scientific journals, 15 in Brazilian journals, presented more than 63 contributions in international conferences and 76 in national conferences. He has given 49 invited lectures at national and international conferences. He has supervised 3 post-doctoral researchers, 16 Doctoral Theses and 31 Master's Dissertations. He had research funding through projects financed by CNPq, FINEP, FAPESP (thematic), PRONEX and CNPq Research Fellow. In March/2025 he created the company "Canevarolo Assessoria Empresarial Ltda" where he serves as Responsible Director. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
