Ricardo Dahab is full professor at the Institute of Computing of the State University of Campinas, UNICAMP. He holds a Master's degree from UNICAMP in Cryptography and a Ph.D. from the University of Waterloo, Canada, in Combinatorics and Optimization. His teaching and research interests are in the areas of Algorithms and Cryptographic Protocols and Information Security. Since 1995 he has published scientific papers and advised doctoral and master's theses in these areas, several of which have received awards and distinctions. He has also worked in the area of Graph Theory. He participated in the ICP-EDU project, in partnership with RNP, UFSC, UFMG, and Kryptus Tecnologias de Segurança, which resulted in the first totally national high security hardware (HSM). This HSM today equips the root certificate authority of ICP Brazil, of which Prof. Dahab also participated as a member of the managing committee. More recently he has been participating and coordinating academic and industry research and development projects in the area of authentication for banking technology, device security evaluation, computer forensics, and efficient implementation of cryptographic methods. Together with the cryptography and security communities he has been actively cooperating in the consolidation of these areas in Brazil and Latin America, participating in the Special Security Commission of Brazilian Computer Society, SBC, in the organization of events such as SBSeg in 2009, the Advanced Cryptography School in 2011, Latincrypt in 2013, CANS in 2013 and PKC in 2018. He started, together with other colleagues, the ACM Programming Contest in Brazil in 1996, which became the Brazilian Regional of the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contests. He was the director of the Latin American region from its inception until 2017. In addition to his academic activities, he has regularly performed administrative tasks at UNICAMP, having been head of department, vice-director of the Institute of Computing, and member of committees and boards at various levels. As of April 2021 he serves as Director of Information and Communication Technology at UNICAMP. He was awarded, in 2011, the Zeferino Vaz Award for Academic Excellence at UNICAMP and, in 2019, the Outstanding Achievement Award from the Special Committee on Information and Computer Systems Security.
