Senior Full Professor of the Production Engineering Department of the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo, where he coordinates the Innovation Management Laboratory (LGI). LGI develops research, courses and, through NAGI(Innovation Management Support Center, created in a Finep project), supports the deployment and improvement of innovation organization and management systems in established enterprises and supports knowledge-intensive enterprise entrepreneurs to mitigate uncertainties in business ecosystems.Coordinator of the Observatory of Innovation and Competitiveness (OIC) of the Institute of Advanced Studies of USP, one of the Research Support Centers of the University of São Paulo (USP), constituted from a competitive edition with external references. OIC is dedicated to public policies of innovation and productive development, together with researchers from Sociology, Law, Engineering, Administration, Law, and Medicine.Coordinator of the Fapesp thematic project on uncertainty management in innovation activities, started in April 2019, articulated in a network with several universities in Brazil and abroad (Babson College and NYU - Cambridge, UK, Aalborg - Denmark).He holds a degree in Production Engineering from the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (1979), Master of Production Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1985), specializing in Technological Innovation and Development (IDS, University of Sussex, , Ph.D. in Production Engineering from the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (1991), with a post-doctorate at the Polytechnic of Milan, Italy (1989), Territoires et Sociétés / Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées ( Latts-Enpc, France, 1996) and the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Troy, NY, USA, Dec. 2014 - Jan. 2015), a graduate program in Production Engineering by EPUSP (1998).Member of the Orientation Council of the Technological Research Institute of the State of São Paulo (IPT), appointed by the State Governor (2010-2019), and the Technical-Scientific Council of the National Institute of Technology (INT, 2008-2015), Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation. Director of the Brazilian Industrial Development Agency (ABDI), appointed by the President of the Republic (2005-2006). Director of the Institute of Applied Economic Research (IPEA), appointed by the Minister of Planning (2003-2004). Member of the Coordination of the Executive Group that prepared the Industrial, Technological and Foreign Trade Policy Guidelines (PITCE) -2003/4.
