Jaques Waisberg holds a degree in Medicine from the ABC Medical School (FMABC), a residency in General Surgery from FMABC, a Master's degree in Medicine (Gastroenterology) from the Brazilian Institute of Studies and Research in Gastroenterology (IBEPEGE), a doctorate in Operative Technique and Experimental Surgery from the Paulista School of Medicine at the Federal University of São Paulo (EPM-UNIFESP), a post-doctorate and a post-doctorate in the Discipline of Surgical Gastroenterology of the Department of Surgery at EPM-UNIFESP. He is currently a Full Professor of General Surgery and Digestive Systems at FMABC, Coordinator of the Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Program in Health Sciences at the Institute of Medical Assistance to State Public Servants (IAMSPE), Pro-Rector of Postgraduate Studies at IAMSPE, permanent advisor and local coordinator of the Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Program in Health Sciences at FMABC, member of the FMABC Free Teaching Committee, Member of the FMABC Postgraduate Research and Innovation Committee, collaborating advisor of the Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Program in Interdisciplinary Surgical Science at EPM-UNIFESP, local coordinator of the IAMSPE Scientific Initiation Scholarship Program. He holds specialist titles in General Surgery, Coloproctology, Digestive System Surgery, and Gastroenterology and is qualified in oncological surgery of the Digestive System. He is a member of the Brazilian College of Surgeons (CBC), the Brazilian Society of Coloproctology, the Brazilian College of Digestive Surgery, the Paulista Society of Gastroenterology, and the Coloproctology Association of the State of São Paulo. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). He has experience in Medicine, with an emphasis on Gastroenterological Surgery, working mainly on the following topics: colorectal neoplasms, biological tumor markers, gastric carcinoma, neuroendocrine tumors, and molecular studies in cancer carcinogenesis.
