He holds a medical degree from the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (1980), specialization, master's degree, doctorate and a postdoctoral degree in Medicine (Nephrology) from the Paulista School of Medicine of the Federal University of São Paulo. Specialist in Intensive Medicine and Nephrology for approval in competitions conducted according to the norms established by the Brazilian Medical Association and the Societies of Intensive Medicine and Nephrology. He is currently a physician and researcher at the Department of Medicine, Discipline of Nephrology at EPM / UNIFESP.
