Marcella Barbosa Faria de Almeida Prado

CV Lattes

Secretaria da Saúde (São Paulo - Estado). Instituto Butantan  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

Marcella holds a degree in Biological Sciences from the University of São Paulo (1991), a Master's degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of São Paulo (1995) and a PhD in Molecular Biology from the Museum National de Histoire Naturelle de Paris (1999). She did her post-doctorate in Cell Biology at the Federal University of São Paulo (2001) and was a Young Researcher at the Emerging Center dedicated to molecular switches of neuronal differentiation (FAPESP) at the Institute of Chemistry at USP (2001-2006). From 2006 to 2016, she was a researcher associated with the Butantan Institute, where she was linked to the Special Laboratory of Applied Toxinology (LETA). Between 2009 and 2011, he carried out a second post-doctorate at the Collège de France, where he studied the process of functional and developmental arteriogenesis. In 2017, she joined the Dactyl Foundation in New York as a visiting researcher. He has been devoted both to theoretical studies, on controls of phenotypic transitions (i.e. quiescence/proliferation, adhesion/migration, rest/activation) in eukaryotic cells; as for experimental studies, evaluating the biological action of peptides originating from snake venoms or generated during envenoming, by proteolysis of extracellular matrix components and blood plasma, in modulating the angiogenesis process. He has recently started transdisciplinary studies in literature and cell biology, in which he draws conceptual parallels between real narratives (evolution, development, cell differentiation) and fictional narratives. In 2017 she did a residency at the Dactyl Foundation in New York where he has been directing the Science and Art Research laboratory ever since. In 2021, he carried out a research residency at STIAS (Stelenboch Institute for Advanced Studies) in South Africa. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
