Renata Medina da Silva has a degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1997), a master's degree in Genetics and Molecular Biology from the same University (2000) and a PhD in Science (Microbiology) from the University of São Paulo (2004). In 2004, she also worked as a science and biology teacher for basic education. Since 2005, she has been an adjunt professor in the area of #8203;#8203;Microbiology at the School of Health and Life Sciences of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul, as a member of the faculty of the Biological Sciences and Biomedicine course and of the graduate programs in Ecology, Evolution and Biodiversity, and Cell and Moleculart Biology. She develops projects in the Immunology and Microbiology Laboratory from PUCRS, as head of the Geobiology Research Group. in the area of #8203;#8203;Environmental Microbiology, with emphasis on the diversity, genetics and biochemistry of microorganisms, microbial communities of natural environments and from human-impacted ones. Since 2018, she has also been working as the educational coordinator of the Science and Technology Museum of PUCRS. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
