Birthplace: Brazil

Graduated in Chemical Engineering from the State University of Campinas in 1981, obtained her master's degree in Nuclear Technology (1986) with a focus on Materials from USP - IPEN, and her doctorate from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), at the Corrosion and Protection Center in 1991. Since 1984, has worked at the Institute for Energy and Nuclear Research (IPEN), initially at the Center for Materials Science and Technology (CECTM). Has been a supervisor in the USP-IPEN postgraduate program in Nuclear Technology since 1992, having supervised 25 master's degrees, 25 doctorates, 12 scientific initiation projects and supervised 12 postdoctoral studies. Currently is a member of the editorial board of the journal Corrosion Science. Between 2018 and 2019, served as Internationalization Manager at IPEN and, in May 2019, assumed the Coordination of Research, Development and Teaching at IPEN/CNEN. In March 2022, took over the Board of Directors of IPEN/CNEN as Deputy Director, and in 2024, the Board and Superintendence of IPEN/CNEN. In 2023, was appointed as a full member and advisor of the Board of Directors of the Academy of Sciences of the State of São Paulo (ACIESP). In 2025, took office as Technical-Scientific Director of the Brazilian Association of Nuclear Energy (ABEN). Her main research interests include corrosion and corrosion protection of aluminum alloys, corrosion of materials for applications such as biomaterials, surface treatments for corrosion protection, and the study of the correlation between microstructure and corrosion of materials.
