Universidade Federal do ABC (UFABC). Centro de Engenharia, Modelagem e Ciências Sociais Aplicadas (CECS)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

Baccalaureate in physics with emphasis on basic research by University of Sao Paulo (1998), masters in physics by the University of São Paulo (2000) in quantum field theory and doctorate in physics by the University of São Paulo (2008) in electronic structure simulations of semiconductor nanowires. Post-Doctoral researcher at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), California, USA, from October 2008 until June 2012, developing optimization of semiconductors for radiation detection through parameter free quantum simulations. At LLNL, independently initiated collaborations with experimental groups on the development of devices based on super-strained semiconductors, in addition to a collaboration with an experimental group from University of Santa Cruz, California, on the engineering of band edge states of metal-oxides for the production of solar energy (photo-eletrochemical cells). Currently, I am a professor at Federal University of ABC in Santo André, Brazil. I was the coordinator of the program of scientific initiation at UFABC from November 2014 until December 2018. I participate in the graduate program of "Nanosciences and Advanced Materials", acting as advisor and as I was formerly a member of the council. Areas of interest include the detection of biological and chemical agents utilizing semiconductor nanowires, electronic and ionic conductivity in crystals, photovoltaics, intrinsic defects and dopants in semiconductors, electronic transport and electron phonon coupling, the use of semiconductors as elctrodes in lithium ion batteries.
