Paulo Gilberto de Paula Toro

Paulo Gilberto de Paula Toro received the Ph.D. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Aeronautical Engineering, USA 1998), Master from Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (Mechanical Engineering, 1988) and Mechanical Engineer from Escola Federal de Engenharia de Itajubá (1983). Visiting Professor at Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, UFRN since September 2017. He joined the Instituto de Aeronáutica e Espaço (IAE) in 1987 and he was transferred to Instituto de Estudos Avançados (IEAv/DCTA) in 2002, and finally He retired on september 2017. Paulo Gilberto de Paula Toro was Head of the Division of Aerothermodynamics and Hypersonics. Deputy of Project Hypersonic Propulsion 14-X (PropHiper). Coordinator of several projects related to atmospheric re-entry, supersonic combustion (scramjet) and Laser propulsion. Professor in the Graduate Programs in the Technology and Space Science (PG-CTE) of the Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (ITA / DCTA) and in the Graduate Program in Mechanical Engineering in the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). Leader of the research group Aerothermodynamics and Hypersonics of CNPq. Research lines: Hypersonics, Aerothermodynamics at High Speeds, Laboratorial devices applied in Hypersonic Flow, Hypersonic Shock Tunnels, Aerothermodynamics of Atmospheric Re-entry, Drag Reduction Induced by Laser, Hypersonic Airbreathing Propulsion, Laser Propulsion.
