Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences from the Federal University of São Paulo (1997), with a MS in Sciences with emphasis in Pharmacology from the Federal University of São Paulo (1999), and a Ph.D. in Science from the Federal University of São Paulo (2003). During PhD I did an internship in the Department of Pharmacology - University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (2002). After that I worked as an Assistant Professor at the University of Mogi das Cruzes (São Paulo) from 2008 to 2011, being a teacher responsible for the Disciplines of Biophysics, Pathophysiology and Human Physiology. I dedicate my research in the field of Biophysics and Physiopharmacology, with emphasis on Cardiovascular and Respiratory Physiology, working mainly on the following topics: neural regulation of blood pressure, nitroxidergic transmission, glutamatergic and cholinergic pathways in the brainstem, hemodynamics, electrophysiology and chronic intermittent hypoxia. I worked as a Research Fellow at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile (from March 2015 to April 2019), in the Department of Neurobiology, investigating the role of peripheral chemoreceptors and central nuclei in the development of hypertension and endothelial dysfunction caused by chronic intermittent hypoxia (CIH), the experimental model of sleep apnea.
